Our Commitments

OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
CFL is firmly committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, both at the workplace and on the road. We constantly evaluate ways to improve truck safety and prevent accidents. Mandatory safety classes include topics on accident reporting, defensive driving in various climate conditions, and the company safety curriculum. On the road training is available for newly hired drivers, and we offer continuous training for all drivers. Post-accident debriefing is conducted after any type of accident to fully evaluate the driver’s role and driving conditions prior to the accident and to assess what preventative measures could have been taken.

CFL has a zero tolerance for substance abuse and has a strict policy prohibiting the inappropriate use and possession of alcohol and illegal drugs.

CFL‘s fleet of Kenworth and Volvo tractors and Utility trailers are maintained by a comprehensive preventative maintenance program by experienced, dedicated fleet managers. Our tractors are equipped with the Mobileye Collision Avoidance System and bot tractors and trailer have Anti-Lock Braking Systems. Beginning in 2017, new tractors will be equipped with advanced safety technology including Stability Control, Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Mitigation Braking.

OUR COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY
CFL is proud to give back. We constantly look for opportunities to make a positive difference in our community. We are active in that community – sponsoring and giving to local Central Coast children’s charities and youth based organizations and programs. We have been supported by our local community for decades and we consider it a privilege to be able to give back to that community in support of its children and youth.
OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

We are a proud member of the SMARTWAY® transport partnership.

SmartWay Transport Partners is an innovative collaboration between EPA and industry designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas, air pollutant emissions, and improve energy security. The SmartWay program is beneficial for CFL, our drivers, and our customers as we all participate in keeping our environment clean.

CFL has been acknowledged as a 2018 High Performer, for achieving a high performance ranking as a SmartWay Refrigerated Truck Carrier.

We’re also committed to meeting clean air standards in every state where we operate, including California’s strict CARB compliance standards. One way we do that is by maintaining an average age of less than 2.5 years for all the trucks in our fleet. We’re constantly upgrading equipment to take advantage of improving environmental efficiencies as part of our commitment to clean air.
